Former Mayor Rene Delos Santos Cordero of Estancia, Iloilo, Passes Away at 86

Estancia, Iloilo – The Municipality of Estancia mourns the passing of Former Mayor Rene Delos Santos Cordero, who passed away at the age of 86. Born on November 3, 1938, Mayor Cordero was a respected leader and public servant, dedicating decades of his life to the welfare and progress of his community.

Mayor Cordero began his public service as a Sangguniang Bayan Member from 1988 to 1992. He later served as Municipal Mayor for a remarkable five terms, totaling 15 years of leadership from 2001 to 2007 and 2010 to 2019. During his tenure, he spearheaded numerous programs and projects that significantly contributed to the development of Estancia, earning him the trust and admiration of his constituents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Geronima Bakabak Cordero, and their three children: Rene Jr., Joel, and Brenda. Known as a dedicated family man and a visionary leader, his contributions to both his family and the Municipality of Estancia will be long remembered.

In recognition of his invaluable contributions, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Province of Iloilo passed Resolution No. 2025-001 on January 9, 2025, “Expressing the Deepest Sympathy and Heartfelt Condolences of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Province of Iloilo to the Bereaved Family of Former Mayor Rene Delos Santos Cordero of the Municipality of Estancia, Iloilo.” This resolution honors his exemplary service and lasting legacy in public governance.

Mayor Cordero’s passing is a profound loss to Estancia and the Province of Iloilo. His leadership, dedication, and love for his community will forever be etched in the hearts of the people he served.
