ILOILO CITY – The vibrant and captivating performance of Tultugan Festival during the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2024 earned them the coveted championship title, securing a substantial cash prize of ₱500,000.00. The festival, held at the Freedom Grandstand on Muelle Loney Street, showcased the cultural richness of nine municipalities in Iloilo province.
Themed “Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo Province,” the event was organized by the provincial government, led by Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., in collaboration with the Iloilo City Government, Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI) and San Jose Parish Placer.
Tultugan Festival’s performance not only clinched the championship but also dominated in several categories. They were awarded Best in Performance, Best in Choreography, Best in Music, and Best in Discipline, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication to their craft.
Tribu Jalaud of Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival of Calinog, Iloilo, secured the First Runner-Up position, receiving a well-deserved recognition and a prize of ₱300,000.00. Their performance also stood out, earning them accolades for Best in Costume Design and Headdress, Best in Production Design, and Best in Streetdance.
The Second Runner-Up position was claimed by Kaing Festival of Leon, Iloilo, which impressed the audience with their remarkable performance, earning them a prize of ₱200,000.00.
In addition to these top performers, special awards were given to outstanding festivals. Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival of Calinog received recognition for Best in Costume Design and Headdress, as well as Best in Production Design and Best in Streetdance. People’s Choice Award went to Katagman Festival of Oton.
The event, held on January 27, was not only a celebration of cultural diversity but also an opportunity for the participating municipalities to showcase their rich history, culture, and traditions through choreographed dance movements, vibrant costumes, and lively music.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas expressed his gratitude to Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. for leading the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan, highlighting its importance as an integral part of the Dinagyang Festival. Governor Defensor emphasized the festival’s role in promoting Iloilo’s culture, heritage, and traditions, echoing the new tourism slogan, “Fun, Foodie, Friendly Iloilo.”
The Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan 2024 proved to be a grand celebration, demonstrating the strong commitment of the Iloilo provincial government and fostering unity among Ilonggos, both in the public and private sectors.
